Voidbound Live - June 14th, Los Osos CA

From the show we played with Connoisseur, Lesser Animal, Toxic Wizard and Carnies a few weeks ago.

We had planned to play The Singing Flame after this which you will hear a bit of in the beginning, but being 11:30 pm and a house show the cops came back and said it was past an ok hour for music anymore.

We still were able to play Voidbound and this happens to be the first video in which it has been captured in its entirety:

Friend Friday: This week's #friendfriday, we present to you AUGURS from Oakland, CA.

Take a Grind band, make them half as fast, give them a tone Matt Pike himself would be thrilled with and throw on top some of the most desperately fucked up sounding piercing howls and what you come out with is Augurs.

Four of the filthiest sounding human beings in existence are also four of the best dudes we have had the honor to share a stage with. These guys showed up at the DIY Warehouse awhile back and absolutely destroyed things...someone crowdsurfed in a 20x10 room it was so gnarly.

We made friends at that show, played The Hemlock in SF together and run into each other at shows in Northern CA regularly.

They will be playing SLO county with Us, Usnea and Toxic Wizard this August(RSVP here) but if you live anywhere else on the West Coast you can catch them on tour this month at any of the dates listed on the tour page here.

Check out their EP, Old Ways, released in 2013 which absolutely rules. They have a new one on the way that we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at and trust us, you want to keep an eye out for it.

Steve over at The Sludgelord recently took some time to review VOIDBOUND and subsequently inquired about an interview to which we obliged:

"Imagine a more trippier and scarier version of Mastodon or even Neurosis for that matter. As Bloodmoon still sound like a band with their own original sound. So if you're into epic demonic based Sludge Metal riffs then Voidbound is going to speak volumes to you."

"Q7 – What is the albums overall themes. Or would you like the listeners to find this out for themselves.

I believe we can discuss themes just a bit while still leaving it up to the listeners as well. We like to leave things with open meanings as there are so many different ways that different minds like to process information. For instance: the word Voidbound. One might think that A) One is bound to the void, a hidden dimension inherent in us all, B) One or many, are en route to the void, a tangible destination, or C) One wears garb pieced together by the very fabric of the Void, a spectre sent as a messenger from the void itself. There are many of these “choose your own perception” moments lyrically on the album as we don’t perceive anything as absolute, but at the very core, the album is an allegory recounting a journey we 3 have taken, and continue to take through the void."

Live @ SLO Brew 9/16/13

Voidbound is ALMOST upon us! Here is sneak preview at part of it live from our show with Agalloch and Worm Ouroboros last month. We are currently planning a 6-day tour for January that will be announced shortly with some very heavy friends from Arizona.

Started writing for Voidbound's successor last monday with added keys(still just the three of us), we will be working one of these songs into the live experience for a show with our pals Granted Earth and Amarok at Frankie Teardrop's 11/21/13.

Agalloch, Worm Ouroboros and Bloodmoon @ SLO Brew Sep. 16th

Very excited to support Agalloch and Worm Ouroboros in our hometown. Agalloch is a band that has greatly influenced the way I approach music over the past 10 years, in the vast seascape of blackened music, they have created their own distinct atmosphere and continue to evolve with every release...for these reasons this band has always stood apart to me so it's a very surreal honor to be sharing the stage with them.

Catalyst Atrium 5/22/12

We were fortunate enough to have Rawb of Deaf photography in attendance at our show with Black Cobra and KEN mode at the Catalyst Atrium last week. Here are some of the pics he took, check out more of his stuff here.

So our drummer won a drum competition today...

First place victory and a new Yamaha Stage Custom kit, well deserved after much hard work and perseverance after an amazing performance at last years while coming home empty handed.

September Updates

Our tour in November is coming together more and more everyday(up to the day updates can be found on the Upcoming Shows page), and at the same time so is our next album. We have all been taking numerous measures to ensure that this album is bigger, longer and heavier than the last whether it be gear upgrades, constant progression of the main themes, or new experimental noises. If anyone would still like a physical copy of Orenda now would be the time to grab one as once our attention shifts over to this next release we are unsure what the future of printing will be in regards to it. You can buy that as well as our Orenda T-shirt right here. From here on til tour in November we will be busy crafting and fine-tuning the rest of what will be our first full-length album, we can only hope you are as excited as we are.
